Instagram to Soon Allow Users to Share Posts in the Stories

The popular photo-sharing app Instagram is all set to transform how users interact with its Stories feature. The company is reportedly testing a new feature through which users can reshare public images. According to a TechCrunch report, the resharing feature will allow users to embed public Instagram photos inside the Stories section of the app. It is supposed to help ease the process of resharing public posts. Instagram confirmed to the publication that it is indeed working on such a feature and that it is currently being tested with a small subset of users.

“We’re always testing ways to make it easier to share any moment with friends on Instagram,” a spokesperson said.

How does this feature work?
With this feature, users can choose any public, permanent Instagram post and tap a dedicated button which lets them integrate the post inside the story.

Further, the users have several customisation options to change the design, highlight or downplay the author, move and resize it inside the Story post and add commentary or images using Instagram’s creative tools.

When people view the story, they can tap on the post embed to bring up a "see post" button which opens the original feed post.

However, users who don’t want their posts to be “quote-Stories” can disable this feature. An option to turn off this feature is available in their settings, and only public posts can be reshared.

As to when such feature will be launched, Instagram says that they don’t have an exact timeline as of yet. However, given the popularity of third-party apps that enable this functionality, Instagram will likely push out the feature sooner rather than later.

This is not the only feature Instagram is testing right now. Earlier this month, “Call” and “Video Call” icons were spotted inside the Android Application Packages or APKs of the app. The reports suggested that Instagram is planning to add voice and video calling features inside its app and as well standalone Direct messaging app.
