New Moto E5 Plus Render Shows Off the 18:9 Display and Single Rear Camera

Lenovo owned Motorola will likely update its entry-level E series in Spring 2018. Ahead of the launch, the smartphone’s press renders have leaked online showing its design and features. Notorious leakster Evan Blass took to Twitter to share the image of upcoming Moto E5 Plus. The image shows both front and back of the smartphone. The Moto E5 Plus is revealed in a silver metallic colour, though it is hard to conclude whether this entry-level phone will have a metallic body or one made of plastic.

As per the leaked image, the Moto E5 Plus features a bezel-less all screen design on the front. The 5.5-inch display itself is much improved, coming with 18:9 aspect ratio and rounded corners. Though the side bezels are pretty slim, the top bezel and bottom bezel still are hefty.

The top bezel houses the front camera and what appears to be a flash. Though the bottom bezel comes without a home screen button, it is still pretty thick. A Motorola branding is placed on the thicker bottom bezel. Motorola will also launch Moto E5 Play and Moto E5 smartphones.

Interestingly, based on renders of the rear panel, the E5 Plus appears to be sporting a dual camera setup. Blass, however, says the second cut may not be for a camera lens. There is an also a LED flash placed below the sensors in the protruding camera module.

Additionally, the fingerprint scanner seems to be placed on the rear panel, housed beneath the Motorola dimple. The render also seems to suggest that the device will keep intact the 3.55mm headphone jack and might include a USB Type C connector, which would be a welcome change.

However, there are no other specifications regarding the upcoming smartphone. For reference, the USP of last year’s Moto E4 Plus was a 5000mAh non-removable battery with fast charging support. We can expect the Moto E5 Plus to come with a similarly large battery.

The pricing and availability of the Moto E5 Plus is still unclear at this point. Motorola was expected to announce some of its 2018 smartphone range at the ongoing MWC. However, there has been no major announcements from the company yet. Stay tuned for more updates.
