Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer has Reportedly Received TRAI’s Approval

Late last month, we reported that Reliance Jio had submitted its Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer to TRAI for approval. And now, according to a report from Financial Express, TRAI has found that the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is different from the Summer Surprise offer.

This essentially means that the Dhan Dhana Dhan offer has complied all the regulator’s terms and conditions. The telco will most likely receive a green signal from the regulator in the near future.

Reliance Jio, back on March 31 announced Summer Surprise offer, but soon TRAI asked the Mumbai-based telco to discontinue the offer due to the violation of terms and conditions. Later on, the company rebranded the offer to Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer with similar benefits.

“Summer Surprise was neither a tariff plan nor a promotional offer. It was a mix of two, which is not allowed, and hence TRAI stopped it,” cites the report.

“The Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is a clear tariff plan which offers subscribers 1 GB data a day for 84 days on a recharge of Rs 309. The other variant of the offer is 2 GB data for the same duration for Rs 509. Tariffs are under forbearance, and Trai does not interfere with them so long they do not violate any regulatory norm. Dhan Dhana Dhan does not violate any such norm,” a source close to the publication said.

Under the Jio Summer Surprise offer, Jio offered four months of free 4G services for JioPrime subscribers with the recharge of just Rs. 303, but the offer was turned down by TRAI.

After discontinuing the Summer Surprise offer, Jio introduced Dhan Dhana Dhan scheme with similar benefits, but the offer was more like a regular tariff plan with long validity.

Reliance Jio is currently offering two plans under its Dhan Dhana Dhan offer of Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 providing 1GB and 2GB data respectively valid for 84 days.
