Nearly one and half years ago, there was only one content leader in India, and that’s our leading telecom operator, Airtel. However, things have changed in recent times with almost every operator focusing on the segment, especially the new telecom entrant Reliance Jio leading the path.

The Mukesh Ambani-led telco has a slew of digital content services under its belt in the form of Jio Music, Jio Play, Jio Cinema, etc. With the Jio Play application, the telco is offering free Live TV for its users, and the Jio Cinema offers latest movies and TV shows.

Airtel recently separated its Wynk Music and Wynk Movies and made two different applications. Airtel’s Wynk Music has over three million songs across various genres and languages. On the flip side, we have Jio Music aimed at taking on the Wynk Music with its features.

Jio Music currently has content based on 20 Indian languages along with the international music. Also, the application allows you to choose your default language out of the 20 regional languages and sorts music accordingly.

Another best part about Jio Music is that it is entirely ad free, which means that there’s no disturbance from ads in between the songs while playing, unlike Saavn and other popular music streaming apps.

However, at just one crore songs, Jio Music has less music catalogue when compared to Airtel’s Wynk Music, but it is quickly adding new genres and artists to catch up with the latter.

Other interesting features of Jio Music are caller tune setting, ability to share a song or album right from the application itself, stream music on connected Bluetooth devices such as wearables, speakers, etc. It also comes with equaliser options to tune your audio listening.
