The popularity of Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Gionee, might have decreased after the entry of brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and Lenovo, but the company hasn't left its ambitions behind. The company is now planning to launch exclusive retail stores across India.
According to ANI, Gionee is in the process of filing an application with the Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy (DIPP) to setup exclusive offline retail stores across India. This application comes after the Government of India relaxed the rules regarding single-brand retail in November 2015.
Not only did the Government of India relaxed the rule of sourcing 30 percent of materials from India, it also allowed companies to sell their products through retail, wholesale, and online route. Gionee recently joined the 'Make in India; initiative, and released the Gionee F103 as its first Made in India smartphone.
