Vodafone starts 4G services in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

Vodafone India, the country’s second largest telecom operator, Monday rolled out high speed 4G network in Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) following its successful launch in Kochi recently. With this launch, the company is now providing 4G services across 10 towns in Kerala. In the Kochi zone, the towns are Kochi City, Maradu, Thripunithura, Vazhakkala, Kalamassery, and Kakkanad. In the Thiruvananathapuram zone, the towns are Thiruvananthapuram city, Kazhakoottam, Kovalam, and Vizhinjam.

“We started our 4G roll-out in India beginning with Kochi and are now delighted to launch our high-speed 4G services in Thiruvananthapuram that will give customers the power to experience the most advanced wireless broadband experience available across the globe today,” Suresh Kumar, Operations Director –South, Vodafone India said.

Running on the efficient 1800 MHz band, the network will enable Vodafone 4G customers to access internet via mobile with speeds across a range of smart devices including Mobile Wi-Fi, the company said. Vodafone said that its 4G service in Thiruvananthapuram is built on a strong fibre backhaul, and is supported by its own 3G services on a network of 2100 MHz, making Vodafone the first telecom operator in Kerala to offer 2G/3G/4G services on its own radio technology.

Vodafone 4G services can be readily accessed from 4G enabled handsets offered by leading smartphone manufacturers, including Apple, Samsung, Micromax, Microsoft, Lava and Xolo available across the country. Vodafone is offering free upgrade to 4G for all Vodafone customers in Thiruvananthapuram along with 4G SIM. Users can get free unlimited movie subscription through a partnership with Hungama Play. Further, they can listen and stream latest songs with free unlimited music streaming on Vodafone Music.
