Cyanogen and Microsoft are working closely towards integrating Cortana into the Cyanogen OS. Cyanogen’s CEO Kirt McMaster revealed in an interview that both the companies have come together to make Cyanogen OS rich in virtual voice assistance.

Cortana for Android

McMaster also said that Microsoft is planning to integrate Cortana deeply into the future version Cyanogen OS, which will be based on Android. Although Cortana is available in the form of an app for Android, but in order to make it fully accurate and efficient, the program needs to be deeply integrated with the operating system, and that is the reason Cyanogen and Microsoft have joined hands. McMaster said in the interview, “Natural language coupled with intelligence is very important but as an application it doesn’t rally work because you need to be embedded into the framework of the OS because that is where you get all the signal from the services that makes that intelligence smarter,”

As of now, Cortana is present on the Windows 10 Mobile Phone, Windows Phone 8.1, Android and iOS. The rumors in January suggested that Microsoft is planning to invest a huge sum in Cyanogen and following the rumor, both the companies have collaborated to integrate many of Microsoft’s apps in the Cyanogen OS. Cortana’s remarkable ability to easily pair with any OS platform can help Cyanogen in growing further. Cortana was created to combat Apple’s Siri and Google Now. The virtual assistant provides customized results for weather, web content, sports, and news.
