Samsung is bringing the Galaxy S6 Edge+ to India this month

Samsung does not want to leave any stone unturned when it comes to launching its devices before Apple. The company announced the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ a week ago and now it is devising a similar strategy in bringing the devices to India. Although, the company has only revealed the plans of bringing the Galaxy S6 edge+ in India.

Going by the strategy that Samsung used to follow earlier, which involved unveiling of the Galaxy Note at IFA in September, and then launching it in India a month after that. Interestingly, this time around, Samsung is in a hurry to bring the device to India a month earlier than planned. Economic Times has reported that Samsung is planning to unveil the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in India sometime later this month, and the Galaxy Note 5 might follow the suit a month later.

In a statement given to ET Tech, Shoneel Kolhatkar, senior director (product marketing) at Samsung Telecommunications America LLC as saying, “For the first time, we are launching our flagships much ahead of their usual launch and it will also be the fastest ever availability of new devices for sales since their announcement.”

Galaxy Note 5Launching its devices before the arrival of Apple iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will certainly give it a lead in the Indian market. Recently, IDC has come up with a report that affirms that in Q2 2015, Samsung has dominated 21.7 percent of the global smartphone share, while Apple acquired 14.1 percent of the total share. On the other hand, in the Indian mobile market, Samsung has acquired 46 percent market share in the above Rs. 30,000 smartphone segment in the Indian smartphone market, while Apple settled for 42 percent of share.

As a flashback, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ at is Unpacked event held in New York, last week. The Galaxy Note 5 comes with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, and is powered by an Exynos 7422 64-bit octa-core processor paired with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB internal storage. It sports a 16-megapixel camera on the rear, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device is backed by 3,000 mAh battery, 4G LTE support, and runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI on top.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, is a bigger variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge with dual-edged display. It comes with a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display, and is powered by a Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB internal storage. It features a 16-megapixel camera on the rear, along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 3,000mAh battery, 4G LTE, and Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI on top.
