Telecom Minister to launch mobile app Disha for digital literacy

As a mode to spread digital literacy through self-learning modules, Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will launch Disha mobile app to assist people to learn about computers and internet. The Minister will also launch a handbook ‘Disha’ alongside that has pictographic lessons on computers.

Disha free app is available on Google Play Store. The idea is to educate rural community who are unaware of the know-hows of computers. Disha handbook is prepared by Common Services Centres (CSCs).

Intel in collaboration with the CSC is working towards digital literacy in India. Under this initiative, Intel aims to train over 500 women in Bihar. At present, Intel and CSC have trained over 200 Dalit women in Bihar reports Economic Times. The Minister will felicitate 10 Dalit women who have got training under the Digital Saksharta Abhiyan in Bodh Gaya tomorrow during the launch.
