COAI releases GSM subscriber Figures for the month of May 2015, Airtel leads

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), the joined body of GSM operators has released GSM subscriber figures for the month of May 2015. The total subscriber base of all seven of its members reached 716.24 million at the end of May 2015.

In the month, GSM operators added 4.69 million subscribers taking total subscriber base to 716.24 million compared 711.55 million in April. Idea leads subscriber addition with 1.29 million new subscribers followed by Airtel which added 1.19 million new customers. While Uninor was at third spot adding 0.93 subscribers. Aircel added 0.7 million new subscribers and Vodafone added 0.43 million subscribers.

Airtel maintained its top position in terms of no: of subscribers with 229.44 million subscribers. Vodafone was at second position with 184.56 million GSM subscribers and Idea secured third spot with 159.20 million subscribers. Meanwhile Aircel and Uninor was at 4th and fifth positions respectively with 82.01 million and 46.78 million subscribers. UP East was the circle with highest GSM subscribers in the country at 64.75 million and also added maximum new subscribers in the month of May with 1.05 million new subscribers.

COAI data does not include GSM/CDMA subscriber data from Reliance Communications, Tata Teleservices and BSNL who does not report to COAI.
