According to the report, DEN’s joint venture partners raise concerns in their recent meeting held in Delhi. Serious allegations were raised in the way agreements are drafted, a few on 50:50 basis, while the others as 51:40 or 60:40. Lack of transparency in the dealings was another issue raised.

In the meeting, the joint venture partners formed an association ‘DEN India JV Partners Association’, perhaps to mainly address such issues with DEN. Ravi Singh, a Mumbai-based DEN Satellite Network JV Partner demanded DEN to treat its partners equally.

The meeting saw the presence of around 20 joint venture partners from all over India. DEN has an extensive presence in areas like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Kerala, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand, most of which are through joint venture partnerships.

Meanwhile, DEN Networks is trying to adopt direct distribution system in Phase III and Phase IV of digitization, thereby to eliminate most of its partnerships.
