Apple Watch App Store goes live with over 3,000 applications

The Apple Watch has finally started hitting the retail shelves; but not in all its variants and not everywhere. The first crop of users has already started posting its experiences and impressions of the smartwatch.

Apple has just launched the App Store for the smartwatch and has made the app store worth the wait. There are over 3,000 apps in the App Store for the time being which seems like quite a decent number for a smartwatch whose main purpose is to bring all your notifications to your wrist without you taking out your phone.

Apple Watch App Store

The App Store is expected to grow to 1,00,000 apps in the next one year. Apple has organised the apps into various categories. These are:

  • Health and Fitness
  • Communication
  • Utilities
  • Business
  • Finance
  • Food and Drink
  • Lifestyle
  • News
  • Productivity
  • Social Networking
  • Games
  • Travel

The applications can be browsed through an iOS device which runs iOS 8.3. This can be accessed through the Apple Watch app. The Apple Watch has been off to a pretty strong start and its pre-orders have already gone back to June. Just to put things into perspective, Samsung’s App Store for the Gear lineup has 3,000 apps too but that it is after almost two years of the Gear line-up being present. Apple has instead got things in place first and has then launched the smartwatch.

What seems to be a really major functional error that Apple has committed is that there is no search function on offer. So you'll have to go through each and every app to know if it is the one you are looking for. Apple may rectify the same in future updates. You install these apps on your smartphone and not the smartwatch. Syncing then comes into play and does the rest of the job. The Apple Watch is seeing quite a lot of demand and has gone on to become quite the seller despite being unavailable in majority of the regions globally.
