A day after it deactivated South base packs for its new subscribers in other parts of the country, Tata Sky announced a new South base package that offers around 100 channels for Rs. 100. Its new ‘Yenathu99’ pack will provide the viewers over 100 channels paying Rs.99 a month and choosing additional regional package (Rs.40 per month) or channels.

According to Malay Dikshit, Chief Communication Officer, this move is to attract the analog users (plain cable TV connection) in urban and regional areas. “Customized and mini-packs will give DTH the much needed push,” he added.

The operator recently faced a series of criticism for losing its signal consecutively for repeated times. Certain parts in Kerala continued to face signal disruptions even after 10 days, which irked people against the service provider. Dikshit confirmed the issue as a result of technology upgradation. "Around 30,000-40,000 subscribers across the country faced the problem, which has now been sorted out," he added.

Tata Sky has been revamping its contents and pricing in past few months. Recently, the provider launched the world’s cheapest DTH daily recharge voucher, priced at Rs. 8 per day. This will allow the viewers to pay for the number of days they watched the channel. The latest launch of this DTH innovation was in Kolkata on 21st April 2015.
