Vodafone India has announced expansion of its 3G services in Lachen, North Sikkim. Vodafone had earlier announced its network expansion to Lachung, Sikkim and with this expansion Vodafone would now cover approximately 665 Census Town, 4135 Mkt. Towns & 35354 villages in the Rest of Bengal circle.
In Rest of Bengal Circle, Vodafone operates in two states spanning a diverse demographic landscape, catering to an equally diverse populace in terms of culture and language. Presently, with over 8814cellsites, 1538 distribution touch points and more than 1L retail touch points, Vodafone offers one of the most robust network connectivity and retail presence, to an overall subscriber base of 14.31 million.
Announcing the expansion of network in Lachen, Sikkim Anand Sahai, Business Head – Kolkata and Rest of Bengal, Vodafone India said, “We at Vodafone India feel extremely proud to announce the expansion of our 3G network to Lachen. We are now fully equipped to provide the finest connectivity and service to our valued customers in North Sikkim. Vodafone now covers more than 94% of the population in Rest of Bengal Circle. This is in line with our objective to be the preferred telecom service provider in Rest of Bengal Circle and be seen as a Company that provides value”.
Lachen, a hotspot for tourists, has a population of 1325 with a 736 to 589 male-female ratio, according to the Population Census 2011.
