Vodafone starts offering its 2G and 3G services in Lachung Sikkim, first private telecom operator to do so

vodafone-new-logoVodafone India will now offer 2G and 3G services in Lachung, Sikkim. With this expansion, Vodafone would now cover approximately 369 towns & villages. Vodafone has so far deployed almost 181 cell sites across the state and 7150 approx across the Rest of Bengal Circle and continues to expand its network. In Sikkim, Vodafone’s retail network consists of 4 Vodafone Mini Stores and 1 Vodafone Store.

Announcing the expansion of network in Lachung of Sikkim Anand Sahai, Business Head – Kolkata and Rest of Bengal, Vodafone India said, “We at Vodafone India feel extremely proud to announce the expansion of our network presence to Lachung. We are now fully equipped to provide superior connectivity and service to our valued customers in these areas. With this expansion, we have now covered more than 91% percent of population in Sikkim and 93.5% in Rest of Bengal Circle. We are further ramping up our network as part of our ongoing commitment to enhance our customers’ mobile experience by offering them an uninterrupted service. We are the first private telecom operator to launch its services in Lachung. Vodafone’s objective is to be the preferred telecom service provider in Rest of Bengal Circle and be seen as a Company that provides value”.

It is in continuation of this commitment to deliver superior service that Vodafone is adding up more and more cell sites to expand its network coverage and also ramping up retail footprint to reinforce its brand value in Rest of Bengal Circle.

In Rest of Bengal Circle, Vodafone operates in two states spanning across more than 36400 approx towns and villages diverse in landscape, culture and language. With over 7150 cell sites, more than 1.12lakhs distribution touch points and with 461retail touch points for customer service in the circle; Vodafone has a robust network and retail presence. Together this distribution network caters to overall subscriber base of 14.2 million in Rest of Bengal Circle.
