Vodafone India Ramps up network coverage by activating almost 1000 new 3G and 2G sites in Kolkata

Vodafone today announced that they have invested Rs. 4400 Cr. in West Bengal since the time they came in and they have invested Rs. 440 Cr. in last 1 Year(June’14 Exit).

While Vodafone is the largest operator in the state of West Bengal it has also added the most number of subscriber in last 1 year. Vodafone also has the highest rural subscriber base in the state of West Bengal.

Vodafone has also activated almost 1000 new 3G and 2G sites all over the state, strengthening and expanding its network across multiple regions of West Bengal. The company has over this period, invested over Rs.440 crore to strengthen and expand network.

With this ramp up, Vodafone has further extended its leadership in West Bengal across relevant industry parameters – network coverage, subscriber base, retail footprint and revenue market share (RMS).

Speaking on the occasion, Anand Sahai, Business Head – Kolkata & Rest of Bengal, Vodafone India, said, “The Customer is at the heart of everything that we do at Vodafone. Their trust and support has enabled us to achieve leadership position in West Bengal across key parameters – Network, Subscriber base, Retail footprint and Revenue Market Share. This endeavour to strengthen and expand our 3G and 2G network and Retail footprints will ensure that our customers enjoy being connected via the finest, most wide spread and reliable telecom network at all times”.

With this investment and expansion, Vodafone now has approximately 12,500 2G and 3G sites in Kolkata and Rest of Bengal circle covering over 94% population. The company has , till June 2014, invested over Rs 4100 crore in the State of West Bengal.
