Videocon telecom the regional GSM operator with commercial services in the 7 circles of Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, UP East, UP West, Gujarat, Bihar and Jharkhand has hiked its 2G data tariffs in Punjab and Haryana circles. The Rs.58 voucher which earlier provided 500MB data with 12-day validity now provides 400MB with 10-day validity. The Rs.96 voucher which earlier provided 850MB now gives only 650MB and the price for 1GB data has been hiked from Rs.109 to Rs.128.
Videocon last year upgraded its Edge network to 2.75G which delivers a superior experience for browsing and streaming of data on smartphones. Videocon possesses 5MHz of liberalised technology neutral spectrum in 6 circles (Except Punjab) which it plans to use for deploying FD-LTE through dynamic bandwidth allocation technology delivering up to 9Mbps in peak hours and 21Mbps in off peak hours.

It remains to be seen if Videocon will participate in the upcoming spectrum auction next month or look to get acquired by an incumbent after the new guidelines of merger and acquisition are released by DOT.
