BSNL increases prepaid ISD tariff for Nepal across all circles

BSNL has revised the tariffs for calls to Nepal for prepaid connections. BSNL offers an STV of Rs.18 which is used as an ISD cost cutter for Nepal. Initially, the STV lets BSNL users call Nepal at a discounted tariff of Rs.6.50 a day and this voucher was valid for 30 days. The revised STV offers the same benefits but at a higher tariff of Rs.8.50.

Recently Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had a meeting with Telecom Operators wherein they discussed about the high calling rates to Nepal. Operators complained that Nepal charged high termination rates for their calls resulting in the high rates for their outgoing calls to Nepal.

Termination rates of Nepal are very high compared to India where operators in India are charging just 40 paisa said Industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) Director General Rajan S Mathews.

This revision in the plan will be valid across all the circles and will be implemented from 23.01.2015. We feel that BSNL should come up with another Special Recharge Voucher that will cost more upfront but will decrease the tariffs further.
