Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) has received clearance from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to set up international internet gateways for its 4G operations. Mukesh Ambani lead, RJIL holds 1800 MHz spectrum across 14 circles and 2300 MHz in 22 circles.
With this, the operator will be able to set up the gateways at Navi Mumbai, and State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited’s IT Park in Chennai. The company, which is gearing up to launch 4G services by end of this month, had earlier sought approvals to set up gateways in Mumbai and Chennai.
The final approval has come following clearances from the inter-ministerial group on Internet Monitoring System. The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), the telecommunications technology development centre, also approved RCOM’s gateway set up.

A month ago, DoT had given security clearances to RJIL to start its 4G services in six circles - Kolkata, Karnataka, Bihar, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat circles.
