One month fixed monthly charges will be waved off for new broadband connections taken between 25th December 2014 (Good Governance Day) and 26th January 2015(Republic Day). Maximum amount waived off is limited up to monthly rental of Rs 999. The scheme is announced as part of Digital India initiatives to expand broadband service to subscribers in two the metros.

MTNL App

MTNL has also launched its dedicated mobile application called MTNL App. The App allows subscribers to avail service such as booking a new connection, file complaints, view bills and make online bill payments. The app is available for download from Google Playstore.

Unlike BSNL, MTNL operates in metros cities of Delhi and Mumbai. For past few years MTNL has been facing with problems with high debt and falling customer base. Government has recently announced revival plans for both PSUs. This new schemes would help MTNL revive its customer base by attracting more users to its network.
