Micromax’s first Cyanogen OS powered YU smartphone to be Amazon exclusive?

Last month, Micromax announced that it will launch its online-only Cyanogen OS powered Android smartphones to compete with the likes of Xiaomi, Asus, OnePlus, and Motorola. Micromax has even sent out media invites for the launch of YU series of smartphones, which is set to happen on December 18.

Now, a tweet from Amazon India's official Twitter account has kind of confirmed that the first YU smartphone from Micromax will be an Amazon exclusive.

Currently, there is no information about the specifications or the features of the upcoming smartphone, but after having a look at the tweet, it looks like the device will be powered by high-end internals. Now that Xiaomi is banned from selling products till February after Ericsson filed a lawsuit against the Chinese smartphone vendor for patent infringements, Micromax should be in a good position to improve its sales.

After Micromax signed an exclusive deal with Cyanogen Inc. to power its YU smartphones with Cyanogen OS, OnePlus users in India won't be receiving further updates from Cyanogen. Are you excited about YU smartphones? Do you think that Micromax can give a touch fight to products from Xiaomi, Lenovo, Huawei, Motorola, and OnePlus?
