Vivo, the Chinese smartphone vendor, has entered the Indian market with the launch of its high-end smartphone, the X5Max at a price of Rs. 32,980. The Vivo X5Max features is being touted as the world's thinnest smartphone with a waistline of just 4.75m thin, beating Oppo's R5, which is 4.9mm thin.
The Vivo X5Max features a 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and runs FunTouch OS 2.0, which is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat. The storage capacity can be expanded by up to an additional 128GB using the microSD card slot. It is equipped with a 13-megapixel primary camera with autofocus, LED flash, and 1080p video recording, while the front-facing camera has a resolution of 5 megapixels.

It is a dual-SIM smartphones and comes with integrated 4G LTE connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.0, and microUSB v2.0 port with USB Host abilities. To achieve a thinness of just 4.75mm, Vivo has shifted 90 percent of the internal components to the side of the screen. With the launch of X5Max, Vivo has dampened the hype which was building up to the launch of the Oppo R5 in India. The Oppo R5 is expected to be announced in India with a price tag anywhere between Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000.

Vivo has already partnered with 20 distributers in 20 states and plans to start manufacturing smartphones in the country in the next three years. The company plans to launch five smartphones between the price of Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 40,000. With Xiaomi out of the Indian smartphone market for the time being, Vivo might be able to attract some buyers but it has Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro as its biggest competitor, which features dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE, 16-megapixel camera with OIS, and a 4,000 mAh battery.
If you don't want to brag about owning the world's slimmest smartphone, you should have a look at the HTC Desire 820, which features a 5.5-inch HD display, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM, Android 4.4 KitKat, 13-megapixel primary camera, and an 8-megapixel secondary camera. It priced much lower than the Vivo X5Max at just Rs. 22,000.
