The famous Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek has joined hands with Opera Software and jointly announced Opera Max, a data savings app for Android phones which will be embedded in the chipset itself. MediaTek is going to start shipping of its high end 64 bit SoCs MT6752 and MT6732 which are LTE enabled. The Opera Max will compress data to such an extent that the user will save almost 50% of the data usage which will translate to a direct reduction in the consumers data bill.

The Opera has jacked its class leading video and data compression technology that compresses the multimedia by 50% without affecting the quality off browsing. The application also cranks up the videos faster and consumes less buffer time.

Opera has also included a user centric dashboard which lets the users manage their consumption and it also takes care of alerting the users once they are out of their telecom circle so that they can avoid paying the roaming data charges.

MediaTek is gearing up and taking quantum leaps in the Smartphone Chipset wars. The recently released True Octa Core chipsets will power a range of medium rangers and also low priced high end phones. MediaTek claims that it has chiseled out the processors such that they have enough grunts to satisfy power users and heavy gamers as well.
