We have received an anonymous tip which states that DoT has blocked a bunch of file hosting websites in India. We tried to visit a some popular file hosting as well as torrent websites such as PirateBay, TusFiles, UploadRocket, etc. from various locations and ISPs. But we were unable to access them.

Dot-Website-blockedWe think that government might have ordered DoT to block popular file hosting and torrent websites to stop piracy but we are still not sure the reason for the block. There was a similar operation carried out by DoT back in 2011 and 2012 where it blocked over 300 websites.
