Airtel undertook a unique and remarkable initiative named Airtel Smart Women Safe Women, to promote the usage of mobile services for personal safety among working women and female students in Indore city.
As part of the initiative, Airtel Smart Women Safe Women, the women employees visited 15 different locations and demonstrated the use of - Airtel Emergency Alert and Airtel Call Manager service. These services can be highly useful in cases where women customers find themselves in an unwarranted situation or in middle of an unpleasant incident.
Airtel Call Manager services allows users to block unwanted calls without letting the caller know about it. Unlimited numbers can be added to the list of blocked numbers.The service also offers a feature of whitelisting callers may be most important one to receive calls despite of activating any type of blocking profile. Besides blocking, the service also allows users to set situational profiles and keep the privacy of the users intact. The profiles like Not Available and Meeting also block the incoming calls when one doesn’t wish to receive any calls but the selected whitelisted numbers. While blocking the incoming calls, the service also offers an option of alerting the user by means of an SMS that the Call manager has blocked the call. To subscribe to this service, users will have to call 52323 at nominal charges of Rs. 30 for 30 days. This service can also work on any type of phone including basic feature phones and does not require internet connection.
Airtel Emergency Alert is a unique service which enables users to stay in touch with-up to 10 friends and relatives in case of an emergency by calling up the Emergency Alert number 55100. Once the user calls the prescribed number, the enlisted friends and relatives will keep receiving location updates through SMS and voice calls for the next 60 minutes. The service is also helpful in generating safe or track alerts as well, which are very helpful for late night travelers or unknown destination travels in this case friends and family will be updated via SMS on different location where person moving. Service also works while roaming nationally whenever customers are latched on Airtel network. To subscribe to this service, users will have to call 55100 at nominal charges of Rs. 30 for 30 days. The service can work on any type of phone including basic feature phones and does not require internet connection.
Apart from the Emergency Alert and Call Manager service, the details of few of the other mobile applications meant for safety of women including Fight Back, Gaurdly, True Caller and Hollaback.
