Upcoming Smartphones to Launch in India in October 2017

By October 2nd, 2017 AT 7:37 AM

We’re now into the final quarter of 2017, where several smartphone brands announce their flagship products in India. Well, if you can’t get this- here’s the quick recap. Every year, smartphone brands announce their newest flagship products at IFA event in September and launch them in India in October. This has been the scenario for the last two years.

And this year, it’s going to be the same. LG’s V30, which was the best smartphone seen at the IFA 2017, Xiaomi’s bezel-less Mi Mix 2, Honor’s 18:9 aspect ratio smartphone and Google’s Pixel 2 series are expected to make their way into the Indian market. Along with the mentioned ones, there are several other devices to be launched in India in October 2017.

In this article, let’s find out which smartphone will launch (or probably going to) in India.

1) Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

First, up for the month will be the Google Pixel 2 series launch on October 4. The smartphones will be announced somewhere in the US, but Google will announce the Indian pricing as well at the same event, like every year. The Pixel 2 is rumoured to be made by HTC, whereas the Pixel 2 XL by LG.

Renders of both the devices have surfaced online. The Pixel 2 will sport the similar Pixel design, whereas the Pixel 2 XL will have 18:9 bezel-less display. Both the smartphones will feature tweaked camera setup, which still is a single camera system. The phones are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 4GB of RAM.

The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL will feature Edge sensor, same as the HTC U11, which allows you to interact with the smartphones by squeezing it. The phones are expected to be priced on the steeper side, both in the US and in India.

2) Honor’s #ExploreWithHonor Smartphone

Huawei’ sub-brand Honor is heavily teasing a smartphone launch in the Indian market. While Honor’s Global Twitter account says that the company is going to launch Honor 9 in India on October 5, a new tweet from Honor India Twitter handle shows a different smartphone altogether.

As of now, it’ still unknown which smartphone Honor is going to launch in India on October 5. The #ExploreWithHonor smartphone is confirmed to have an 18:9 aspect ratio display, dual rear cameras, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. For more details about the device, we’ve to wait till the official launch of the product, which is on October 5.

3) LG V30

LG’s flagship smartphone, the LG V30 made its way to the international market last month. The company will be eagerly waiting to launch the device in India this month because its true rival, the Galaxy Note 8 is doing well in the market already.

The LG V30 offers flagship specifications such as a 6-inch OLED Full Vision display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, industry’s first f/1.6 aperture camera, and a gorgeous display. The smartphone is expected to land in India in the second or third week of October with a much smaller price tag compared to that of Galaxy Note 8.

4) Xiaomi Mi Mix 2

Last month, Xiaomi launched its bezel-less Mi Mix 2 smartphone with a 5.99-inch FHD+ display. And the brand even confirmed the arrival of the smartphone in the Indian market at a later date. If Xiaomi sticks to its decision and launches a new smartphone every alternate month, then the Mi Mix 2 will launch in November because the company launched the Mi A1 last month.

The Mi Mix 2 is a gorgeous looking smartphone with a 5.99-inch near bezel-less display. Also, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB/8GB of RAM, a single 12MP rear camera, and a decent 3500mAh battery. The smartphone is expected to be priced below Rs. 30,000, and aimed at killing all the high-end bezel-less smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S8, LG G6, etc.

5) Motorola Moto X4

Motorola has set October 3 as the launch date for the Moto X4, but the company, later on, revealed that the launch of Moto X4 is postponed due to some unknown reasons. The Moto X4 is a gorgeous looking mid-range smartphone with decent hardware on paper.

The Moto X4 flaunts a 5.2-inch display and is powered by the Snapdragon 630 chipset, which is coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The device features dual camera setup of 12MP and 8MP at the back and is entirely made out of glass. The price of the Moto X4 in India is expected to be below Rs. 25,000.

Other Mentions

Also, the Nokia 8 flagship smartphone will be available for purchase starting October 14, and the Apple iPhone X with a whopping Rs. 89,000 price tag will be up for pre-order starting October 27.

Other brands such as Asus might launch the Zenfone 4 and Zenfone 4 Pro smartphones. Sony may bring the Xperia XZ1 Compact to the Indian market, while HMD is also expected to launch the Nokia 3310 3G variant in the Indian market.

Only Mi Mix 2 looks appealing. Best price/perf ratio

Three are of interest to me. However …. 1) It seems LG V30 in India ‘may’ be sold without the QDAC – I hope its a rumour. 2) Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL does not have a headphone jack. So why is that an issue ? It is because the USB ports gets damaged over time and the repair costs are heavy. Nobody is factoring this in .. only after two years, will we know that till this hardware issue gets resolved, there is no point in replacing the headphone jack which does not damage at all. Nokia just charged… Read more »

Have u ever used Moto recent phone, full of software bugs and those shameless moto lenovo people are still unable to resolve the issues. Check in Moto forum u will come to know. Still Mi A1 is safe bet since 2 android update guranteed for budget people.

Am aware of the Moto issues. Lenovo does have a lethargic approach to software, security upgrades/updates which is why Motorola – the brand – suffers a bit. Even then Motorola devices are well made. Mi A1 isnt mentioned in this article – it is a great buy though, well worth the money.

My first smartphone is Samsung I love samsung & Google android phones with extraordinary & latest features for me & want distribution for Google for all.

Did you stop and think for a minute, that the people who buy the Pixel 2 will most probably have enough money to buy a decent set of Bluetooth Headphones?

Agreed – would use bluetooth headsets, however, pairing/unpairing isn’t without its glitches, not to mention range issues, extra battery charging. Its another task added to the list. Its not nearly as perfect as having wired headsets still. Given a choice, I would avoid these ifs n buts and just opt for the ever reliable 3.5mm headphone jack.
