TIM Brings 5G Connectivity to Popular Winter Tourist Destinations in Brazil

TIM Brazil has introduced 5G technology in 16 cities, including popular winter tourist destinations, to improve the winter travel experience. The launch, which took place on June 30th, is intended to offer an exceptional digital experience and boost the local economy.

TIM Brazil 5G Locations

TIM has announced the activation of 5G in over 16 cities across various regions of Brazil, including major cities in the mountainous regions.

According to the official release, the cities benefitting from this 5G network expansion are Campos do Jordao, Sao Jose dos Campos, and Sao Caetano do Sul in Sao Paulo, Petropolis, Teresopolis, and Cabo Frio in Rio de Janeiro, and Gramado, Canela, and Bento Goncalves in Rio Grande do Sul.

Additionally, the cities of Londrina (PR), Foz do Iguacu (PR), Blumenau (SC), Uberlandia (MG), Guarapari (ES), Pinhais, and Sao Jose dos Pinhas, in Parana will also join the list of 5G-enabled locations.

Empowering Tourists with 5G Technology

TIM Brazil says the introduction of 5G technology not only enhances the daily lives of local residents by providing faster internet speeds, but it will be another attraction to over 20 million tourists who visit these regions each year to enjoy the winter climate.

With 5G, travellers can easily share more data and stream live content, showcasing the beauty of Campos do Jordao, exploring the attractions of Gramado and Canela in the Serra Gaucha region, and embarking on tours through the charming historic centres of Petropolis and Teresopolis in the Serra Imperial of Rio de Janeiro.

"Our main objective with 5G is to provide unprecedented experiences for our customers. We know that many people visit these cities during winter, and we want to offer a seamless connection so that both residents and tourists can share their experiences in real-time. Our aim is also to stimulate the economy and commerce in these tourist destinations, encouraging even more people to explore them," explained TIM Brazil in its official release.

Economic Growth and Digital Advancements

TIM also added that implementing 5G technology is expected to have a favourable impact on the regional economy, besides enhancing connectivity and improving digital experiences. It will enable automation in the agriculture sector and provide benefits like remote healthcare and distance learning.

Additionally, it will aid in the growth of local e-commerce, thereby allowing artisans specializing in winter clothing, traditional pastries called cucas, beer, and chocolates to increase their online presence.

No SIM Change Required

Importantly, no SIM card change will be necessary to access 5G services; customers need only have a compatible smartphone. Currently, TIM has more than 50 percent of the 5G antennas in the country and is still expanding its network by implementing the technology in different areas.

This includes further developing tourism, activating the entire economic ecosystem surrounding these cities, and promoting overall well-being."
