Tata Teleservices Crosses 75 Million Subscribers Mark

By August 11th, 2010 AT 12:42 PM

Tata Teleservices Limited, India’s fastest-growing dual-technology (GSM and CDMA) telecom service provider,, has added 2.32 million new subscribers (wireless and wireline) in the month of July 2010 to cross the 75-million-subscribers’ milestone in a short span of just over five-and-a-half years since the launch of its mobile telephony services in early 2005.

The company closed the month of July with a total of 76,058,908 subscribers (wireless and wireline), as on 31 July 2010.

The crossing of the 75-million-subscribers’ mark by Tata Teleservices Limited and Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited is all the more commendable as the company has shown a subscriber growth rate of more than 100 per cent in the last 12 months—from 38 million subscribers in July 2009.

As the numbers suggest, Tata Teleservices Limited has shown an extremely aggressive and consistent growth in new subscriber additions over the last year.

Commenting on the landmark achievement, Mr. Anil Sardana , Managing Director of Tata Teleservices Limited , said  “We thank and appreciate every subscriber’s faith in us as a transparent, caring and efficient telecom services company. With each new milestone crossed, we have raised our own internal benchmarks—in keeping with our larger objective of consistently enhancing and improving our standards, and of providing our customers with differentiated and lifestyle-impacting telecom services. The achievement also bears testimony to the efforts that have been put into making our network and services the best in the industry—we will continue to innovate and evolve, providing world-best products and offerings to our subscribers.”

The last financial Year has been an extremely successful one for Tata Teleservices Limited, wherein the company introduced its new GSM brand Tata DOCOMO, introduced its industry-changing ‘Pay-Per-Second’, ‘Pay-Per-Call’ and ‘ULTA Plan tariff plans, unleashed industry-best products like Photon TV and Mobile TV, and offered lifestyle-impacting products like Buddynet, diet-sms and many others.

“With the countdown on 3G services having begun, we will continue to walk the innovation path, providing our customers with differentiated products and services which will take telecom to the next level. We are working closely on the creation of such relevant products with our partners, particularly NTT DOCOMO, which is acknowledged as the world leader in telecom technology development; and look forward to the next wave in Indian telecoms,” Mr Sardana added.

Well, Tata Photon+ is no good nowadays. I have an unlimited 5 GB plan which gets reduced to 1x once my usage go beyond ~2.5Gb! So, the rest of 2.5Gb I get to utilize at 1x speed in the name of Fair Usage Policy (FUP). On top of it, they bullshit you by saying that the free usage limits are crossed in 20 days! I do not recommend Tata Photon+ to any one nowadays. It’s just sad that Tata are losing their main focus – the Customer satisfaction..
