India’s first 3G mobile service operator Mahanagar Telephine Nigam Ltd (MTNL) is all set to upgrade IP-based next generation network 3G data network with 28 Mbps speed in Mumbai and Delhi circle city in next few months.

The MTNL 3G Up-gradation process is kicked off and company plans to upgrade its 3G/HSPA Network from 3.6 Mbps to more faster up to 28 Mbps over the next 9-12 months.

Speaking with TelecomTalk, Mr. A.K. Garg, CMD, MTNL, said  “We are in process to upgrade the 3G network which is expected to be completed with in 9 to 12 months and our customers in the Mumbai and Delhi will experience the upgraded 3G/HSPA network with more faster speed and better indoor and outdoor coverage.”

Confident of turning things around at state run telco MTNL, Mr Grarg said that, Super Speed 3G with better indoor coverage, ADSL and High Speed FTTH Broadband, Enterprise Solutions, Convergent Billing, and affordable land-line service are on his top priority.

Better 3G Coverage and Speed :

On poor indoor GSM coverage and present 3G network problems in sub-urban areas, Mr. Garg said that “We were working on removing certain bottlenecks. We have succeeded in doing so. MTNL 3G services will only get better in next few months.

Prepaid BlackBerry Services with Affordable Plans :

At the Media Event, Mr Garg also announced that MTNL would roll out its prepaid BlackBerry services with most affordable tariff plans as well as Prepaid ISD Roaming Service for GSM subscribers in Mumbai by January 15th, 2012.
