Bangladeshi operator Robi nears 60 million subscribers, ending June with 59.5 million active subscribers. Despite the growing macroeconomic and regulatory challenges, Robi's growth momentum continued in Q2’24 (April-June 2024), the operator said in a press release on July 29.

Subscriber Growth and Network Expansion
Robi's active subscriber base reached 59.5 million, including 45.4 million internet users and 37.6 million 4G users. Of the total active subscriber base, 76.3 percent were internet users, and 63 percent were 4G users. Robi also reported adding 325 new 4G sites, bringing the total to 17,715, and achieving 98.93 percent population coverage.
Financial Performance in Q2 2024
Robi recorded revenue of 2,604 crore taka in Q2, marking a 3.5 percent increase from the previous quarter and a 2.5 percent year-on-year growth. For the first half of 2024, total revenue reached 5,120.2 crore taka, a 4.8 percent increase compared to H1 2023. Voice revenue grew by 7.7 percent quarter-on-quarter and 0.6 percent year-on-year. Data revenue increased by 2.5 percent quarter-on-quarter and 12.7 percent year-on-year, with average data usage per subscriber rising 12 percent year-on-year.
Robi said: "Despite the economic woes and the mounting regulatory challenges, we are happy to see Robi continuing on the growth trajectory. We have continued to invest heavily in our network to ensure a quality experience for our customers’ rapidly growing data consumption."

Regulatory Compliance
Speaking on the ongoing drive for Quality of Services (QoS) from the Regulator, Robi added: "We welcome the closer scrutiny from the Regulator on improving QoS for our subscribers."
"Robi is consistently offering better quality than what is expected as per the QoS regulation. As a customer-centric company, we are fully committed to collaborating with the Regulator to ensure world-class quality for our customers in light of the existing QoS regulation," it said.
