The biggest wait in the telecom industry of India has been of Reliance Jio's fibre-based broadband service, Reliance Jio GigaFiber. The Mukesh Ambani led telecom operator, Reliance Jio is finally expected to hold the commercial launch of its FTTH service, GigaFiber on August 12, 2019. Notably, this is the same day as the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries, the parent company of Reliance Jio. To recall, last year it was during this event only that Reliance Jio has announced the arrival of GigaFiber and had kick-started the registration process in 1,100 cities of India. Now finally, after a year, in the 42nd Annual General Meeting of shareholders, the GigaFiber service will be commercially launched.

Commercial Launch of Reliance Jio GigaFiber

Last week, Reliance Jio also announced its quarterly financial results. Along with it, the company also said that the beta trials of Reliance Jio GigaFiber are in their final stages and noted that they were kicked off days before the announcement of the services. In a media statement, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries had said, "Beta trials of JioGigaFiber services have been very successful, and the entire bouquet of smart home solutions would soon be rolled out to targeted 50 million households and beyond."

However, even with this being said, the company has not yet spoken about the launch details of Reliance Jio GigaFiber. According to a report filed by Hindu, a person aware of the matters has said that there are plans to launch the broadband service, entertainment and smart home IoT (Internet of Things) solutions, during Reliance Industries' AGM on August 12.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber Plans

It is worth noting that during the beta testing phase, in many cities, Reliance Jio was offering GigaFiber services on a security deposit of Rs 4,500. In this amount, the subscribers were enjoying a Triple Play plan. To recall, the Triple Play plan was first only limited was Jio employees but was later introduced for beta testers as well. The Triple Play plan bundled DTH, broadband and landline services for the subscribers. Not only this, later on, Reliance Jio also introduced a different plan for its subscribers, wherein, the customers could start getting the services of GigaFiber for as low as Rs 2,500. However, it was noted that under this plan, the speed of the connection would be limited to 50 Mbps, as opposed to the 100 Mbps on the original connection.

Some other reports have also revealed that the company will be launching the plans which it will offer for Reliance Jio GigaFiber. Currently, the rumours tell us about the Triple Play being priced at Rs 600 per month, and there are also talks of another plan of Rs 1,000 and above which will offer more speed.
