Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), finally increased ISD call rates to 6 countries from Rs.1 to Rs 2 per minute for its Land-line and postpaid mobile customers Delhi in Delhi telecom circle, effective from today ie. 5th May 2012. MTNL already did the same for Mumbai circle in February, as earlier we shared in TelecomTalk.

According to our exclusive sources, the average ISD call termination charge has been increased in last few months, so MTNL has no option to increase ISD call rates to 6 countries namely USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore

However the MTNL's new ISD rate (Rs.2/min) is still cheapest in the Indian market compare to all other telecom operators offerings Rs.6 to Rs.10 per minute for the same as default tariff (without any STV/Pack). The ISD call rates was reduced by MTNL in June, 2010 as we reported earlier on TelecomTalk.

Now MTNL Delhi's Landline and Mobile users will be charged for ISD Call to USA, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand at Rs.2 per minute as by default tariff without any pack effective from today i.e. 5th May 2012.
