Motorola Teases the Launch of Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play in India

Nearly after a month of the official launch in Brazil, Motorola India has officially started teasing the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play smartphones launch. Oddly enough, the Lenovo-owned company is teasing only the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play, but not the Moto G6 Plus. So is Motorola planning not to bring the Moto G6 Plus to the Indian market? We have to wait and watch. The company has posted a 14 seconds video on microblogging portal Twitter stating that Moto G6 and G6 Play are coming soon to the sub-continent. Just yesterday, Motorola confirmed that they're going to launch the Moto G6 series in China on May 17 and the Indian launch news isn't a surprising one too.

Usually, Motorola launches its devices in India right after their launch in other markets. In the case of Moto G5 series, the devices were unveiled at the MWC 2017 and launched in India within three weeks. But this time around, the company took a while, and the launch date is not yet announced. We're expecting the devices to go official in the country during the last week of May or in the first week of June.

The irony is Motorola not teasing the bigger variant of the G6 lineup, the Moto G6 Plus. For the uninitiated, the Moto G6 lineup consists of three devices- the bigger Moto G6 Plus with premium specs, the standard Moto G6 with budget specs and the Moto G6 Play with entry-level specs. The Moto G6 Plus features similar specs as the Moto X4, which could be the reason why the company is not planning to launch it in India. But nothing is confirmed for now, and we might still see the Moto G6 Plus landing in India.

Talking about the specifications, the Moto G6 sports a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Internally, it's powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, clubbed with 3GB/4GB of RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. The device offers dual rear cameras of 12MP and 5MP at the back along with an 8MP selfie shooter. There's a 3000mAh battery backing the device.

The Moto G6 Play, on the other hand, comes with least specifications of all. It sports a 5.7-inch 18:9 HD+ display, Snapdragon 427 SoC (might come with Snapdragon 430 SoC to India), up to 3GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 8MP selfie shooter and a 4000mAh battery. Both the phones boot Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
