Of late, homegrown manufacturer Micromax has been under pressure due to the entrance of various Chinese brands and apparently lost the top place in the Indian market and is still struggling to get going. However, that did not stop the company in launching new phones. After launching five smartphones under the newly created Vdeo series, the company has announced yet another smartphone, the Micromax Canvas Mega 2 Plus Q426+ in India.

Priced at Rs. 7,499, the Canvas Mega 2 Plus Q426+ is the successor to last year's Canvas Mega 2 and comes with upgraded specs when compared to its predecessor. The Canvas Mega 2 Plus features a massive 6-inch display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels (qHD), which can be barely seen on smartphones releasing these days.

The Canvas Mega 2 Plus is powered by an unspecified 1.3GHz quad-core chipset and features 2GB of RAM. There's 16GB of native storage on the phone, and the storage can be expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box and is armed with a 3000mAh battery.

In terms of camera, the Canvas Mega 2 Plus boasts an 8MP rear-facing camera that has support for autofocus and LED flash. Frontal, there's a 5MP sensor for shooting the selfies and video calls.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS chip, and a USB OTG. The phone will be available only in black colour option and will be sold via all the offline stores across the country. There are no details on the online availability of the phone, though.

The news was first posted by Mumbai's prominent offline retailer Mahesh Telecom. The phone features sensors such as gravity, proximity, and ambient light sensors.

Considering the market these days, the Canvas Mega 2 Plus doesn't stand a chance against other smartphones in the similar price segment. Priced at Rs. 6,999, the Xiaomi Redmi 3s is a great phone and comes with much better hardware in the form of 5-inch HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, 2GB of RAM, and a beefy 4100mAh battery, which is enough to last for two days.
