This is the fourth launch under Karbonn’s mid-ranged smartphone under Titanium series which has done decently for the brand. Many have alleged that there is not much difference between Canvas 3 and 4. However, it is for the first time that Karbonn has come up with HD IPS screen for its smartphones and the quality of display looks much better than its predecessors.

The market price for the phone is Rs 19,990. To make the deal more interesting, the company is offering a free flip cover along with the purchase of this smartphone. On the specification front, it scores well over Canvas 4. Its battery life and bigger screen gives it an upper edge in the competition. Both devices use similar versions of Android, hence score the same on this front.

Our take: On the looks front, Micromax Canvas 4 looks better with its metallic finish and sharp edges as compared to the plastic body finish by Karbonn. Both the devices use same operating system, processor and have identical camera specifications. However, Karbonn S9 can support your gaming and multimedia needs better with its larger internal memory, HD IPS based screen and a longer battery life. On the other hand, despite using the same camera specifications, Canvas A4 brings out slightly better picture quality and very it is going to get Android 4.3 update in the coming months. With this update, the experience will improve many notches. To sum it up, if you can afford to pay just a bit of extra amount, you should simply go with Karbonn S9.
