Popular photo sharing platform Instagram is testing a new feature that let users share Instagram stories on WhatsApp status directly. Currently, if you are an Instagram user, you can share your Instagram story on Facebook by linking your account. Facebook is now testing the feature for sharing Instagram stories on WhatsApp according to a TechCrunch report. The feature will allow users to share photos, GIFs, videos decorated with emojis and stickers as their WhatsApp status.

The stories shared on WhatsApp will appear in the status bar and just like Insta stories will disappear after 24 hours. Also such as shared story will be encrypted like chats on the Whatsapp.

How to share Insta Stories on WhatsApp?

The feature is currently under works and available for select users. The official rollout of the feature may happen soon, though the timeline hasn’t been decided as of yet.

Instagram users will see an option to share Stories to WhatsApp on the Instagram sharing screen. They will need to click “send” option to post their Stories on the messaging platform.

Facebook is aiming to enhance customer experience and as well increase their user base with such feature.

“We are always testing ways to improve the experience on Instagram and make it easier to share any moment with the people who matter to you,” a spokesperson said.

Facebook says that since the introduction of sharing Insta stories, there have been more than 300 million active users of the feature. Adding the ability to share to WhatsApp will give the Stories more popularity, especially in countries like India where WhatsApp is already popular.

In addition, Facebook is reportedly working on a Direct messaging app for Instagram. This will remove the messaging feature from the main app. If you install it, the inbox disappears from the Instagram app and can be accessed only in ‘Direct’. The app will become available on Android and iOS in six countries including Chile, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, and Uruguay.
