Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the largest broadband service provider in India with countrywide presence is now looking for a partnership with Local Cable TV Operators (LCOs) and Multi System Operators (MSOs) for providing Broadband services on Cable TV Network on Pan India basis.

BSNL has invited Expression of interest (EOI) offers from MSO/LCO who intend to provide broadband services, to their customers using Hybrid Set Top Box or any other customer premises equipment (CPE) on cable TV network.

Under the agreement, BSNL will provide connectivity for Broadband services to LCO/MSO in tier-2 locations. The LCO/MSCO would use their cable network to provide the broadband connectivity with required equipment to subscribers. BSNL is also planning to offer voice services to LCO/MSO with free night calling offer.

People who are pre assuming BSNL will fail in this venture,
I would like to float a question.
Have we ever wondered that the Cable operators who are providing Internet or the TV streaming, from where are they getting the backbone network.
Its the BSNL OFC network which they use, and provide services under their name.
So I think its a very smart move by BSNL as to Tap that particular segment on revenue basis in which its already present at the backend

not a bit late to tie-up but very very late for BSNL to tie up, even ACT,hathway, etc. have entered tier-2 cities so tie-up may help BSNL in tier-3 & smaller towns.
