This comes as a breath of fresh air, finally a smartphone by Asus without the “ZenFone” tag. Well, there are so many variants in the ZenFone series that it is next to impossible to remember each one. Asus has released a new smartphone named as the Asus Live G500TG, in Brazil. The company will be bringing it to other markets soon.Asus Live

Asus Live is powered by a low-end, 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 chipset, and features a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The device runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with ZenUI 2.0 on top, which is pretty unreasonable as this is high time for manufacturers to release new phones with Marshmallow instead of Lollipop. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card. The phone sports an 8-megapixel primary camera with LED flash, along with a 2-megapixel selfie camera.

In terms of connectivity, the dual-SIM phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. Backing the Asus Live is a 2,070mAh battery. In addition, Asus is also offering 100GB of free cloud storage on Google Drive for 2 years. The Asus Live is embodied in plastic and measures 144.5 x 71 x 9.98 mm. It weighs 140 grams, which makes it heavier than other 5-inch smartphones out there. It’s worth noting that the Asus Live comes with a built-in digital TV, which is not even available on ZenFones.

Moreover, in terms of outlook, it looks like a smaller version of the ZenFone Max, with volume buttons placed on the rear side, rather than on the back, distinguishing it from recent ZenFone smartphones by Asus. The device has been launched at $210 (approx. Rs. 14,175), but devices are priced higher in Brazil than the other regions. So, there are chances that it might be announced in India with a lower price tag.
