Freshwave, a UK connectivity infrastructure-as-a-service provider, working with real estate technology specialists Electracom Projects, has delivered 4G connectivity from all four major UK mobile network operators (MNOs) at 8 Bishopsgate, the City of London’s latest flagship development. Developed by Mitsubishi Estate London and Stanhope, the 50-storey skyscraper offers over 900,000 square feet of space, with 500,000 square feet dedicated to offices. It is the UK’s tallest building to achieve a BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) Outstanding rating for sustainability.

Freshwave Deployed 4G DAS
Freshwave designed and deployed a 4G distributed antenna system (DAS) to provide connectivity for everyone in the building, irrespective of their mobile network operator. According to the official release, the company will provide ongoing support for the system through a managed service.
Overcoming Signal Challenges
To address the signal-blocking challenges posed by modern construction materials, Freshwave implemented a DAS that integrates directly with MNO networks, ensuring service throughout the building. Sixteen occupiers have already joined the service under a commercial model agreed between 8 Bishopsgate, Freshwave and Electracom.
Brendan Hourihane, Senior Director at Freshwave, said: “Mobile signal is essential for modern life now, whether it’s for dealmaking in the office or keeping in touch with loved ones, so it’s a must in high-quality buildings such as 8 Bishopsgate to give the best experience.”
