Apple, the Cupertino tech giant, is going to launch the iPhone 17 series in the coming year 2025. Just a few months back, Apple launched the iPhone 16 series globally. The highlight of the iPhone 16 series was the Camera Control. For the iPhone 17 series, we don't know much yet, however, there's a big development around the cameras of the iPhone 18 series. This is shared by Ming-Chi-Kuo, a TF SecuritiesInternational analyst known widely for his accurate Apple leaks. As per Kuo, with the iPhone 18 Pro series, Apple is looking to bring camera sensors with variable aperture support.

The iPhone 18 series will only go official in 2028. Apple doesn't share much about its devices like other brands do before their launch and this is for a device that's about two years away from us. Even so, Kuo has said that the iPhone 18 Pro series will feature sport a variable aperture camera.
Kuo said that BE Semiconductor is the supplier of assembly equipment for aperture blades, a critical component of this upgrade.

Apple is not the first one to be working on this. Already many other brands such as Xiaomi, Samsung, and Honor have tried this technology on their smartphones. Apart from this, Apple is also expected to bring under-display Face ID technology with the iPhone 17 series next year. The iPhone 17 series will see the introduction of the A19 Pro and the A19 chips.
With the iPhone 17 series, we could see the introduction of a 24MP selfie sensor in all four models - iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Further, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to come with a 5x periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
