CyrusOne to Build Sixth German Data Center, FRA6 in Frankfurt

US data centre developer, CyrusOne has announced plans to construct its sixth data centre in Frankfurt, Germany. The upcoming facility, named FRA6, will be situated at the Europark site in Sossenheim following its recent acquisition by CyrusOne, according to the official release.




FRA6 in Frankfurt's Digital City

Strategically located in Frankfurt's renowned "Digital City," the site aligns with the city officials' plan to meet the growing demands for data centres in key development areas.

CyrusOne says FRA6 will offer a total IT capacity of 72 MW spread across four floors, with each level delivering 18 MW. The planning stage for the construction is currently underway, according to the company.

The recently acquired Europark site spans over 27,500 square meters (6.8 acres) of land, providing ample space for the development. CyrusOne says it aims to create a facility that adheres to sustainability and biodiversity principles.

Sustainable Design and Environmental Commitment

According to the company, FRA6 is set to achieve BREEAM "Excellent" certification, signifying its commitment to environmentally-friendly practices. Moreover, the facility will meet the planned Energy Efficiency Act requirements.

By utilizing sustainable materials and implementing a closed-loop water cooling system, FRA6 aims to minimize water consumption and waste while maintaining a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) below 1.3.

CyrusOne expressed commitment to Frankfurt and its ongoing expansion efforts. The company highlighted early interest in FRA6 from hyperscale customers and other large enterprises, reinforcing CyrusOne's expertise and ability to provide solutions instrumental to their customers' success.
