App Review : Nokia Battery Monitor

How long does your Nokia last? Does the indication bars show you the exact battery levels?

Sometimes even the battery level indicator fools us by showing some wrong information about the charge levels and we neglect to keep a charge. But if make a phone restart (switch off and on) the battery levels completely appear to be different.

So, now we have an app called “Nokia Battery Monitor” which shows us the battery charge level with estimates of usage time remaining and charging time.

This small app/Widget also shows you the statistics of your recent energy consumption in the phone on the whole. This information can be viewed in full application or on the home screen widget. Nokia Battery Monitor has been developed by Nokia and VTT Technical Research Centre, in Finland. With Nokia Battery Monitor, you’ll be able to see, in really simple terms, how long your phone has left before it decides to call it a day and goes to sleep.

The application on the whole is divided into three tabs.

1) Estimates-Will predict how many more days, hours or minutes you have left in your phone with respect to each category in energy consumption such as Active use, Talk, Web Browsing and Music Playback.

2) Statistics-Shows us a Bar Graphical representation of the Energy consumption by various services of the whole week.

3) Info-It is a page that contains all the info on Nokia Battery monitor application.

This application is available in two colour themes Light and Dark. You can change the colour theme of the application and widget from ‘Options’ menu. The app is available for all Symbian^1 (S60 v5) and Symbian^3 touch phones Free over Ovi Store!

The working of the widget can be seen from the above screenshots. By tapping the widget you can switch from one view to the other. We have tried this application on a NOKIA N8 and even 5800 Xpress Music. It worked well. This application shows you the services that consumed much of your battery charge so that you can keep in control.

Note that the accuracy of the application might vary depending on your usage. For the first time this application takes a couple of minutes to calibrate the charge levels. Hope it comes in handy for Nokia users!

Try Nokia Battery Monitor for yourself. You can download it from Ovi Store, it’s free and available for S60v5 and Symbian^3 devices.
