Bharti Airtel to Usher Investments for Rapid 5G Development

Bharti Airtel chairman financial health concern

Bharti Airtel, on Tuesday, sent out an annual report to stock exchanges detailing its affairs and numbers for the year-end at the end of the previous financial year. In the report, the head of the second-biggest telecom company, Sunil Bharti Mittal, made some statements that included words about Airtel’s preparedness about the 5G network. In the report, he remarked that Bharti Airtel was ready for the deployment of 5G network in the country as it had the required equipment for it. Also, he said that Bharti Airtel would be working with domestic and global manufacturers to turn India into a 5G technology hub.




Airtel Hopeful of Positive Outcomes in Future

He made some references to the currently going on financial tussle in the industry with Vodafone Idea and said that he hopes that government is able to retain the “3+1” telecom companies structure in the industry. This alludes to the presence of three private telecom players, including Bharti Airtel, in addition to BSNL. He also added that Bharti Airtel is ready to capitalise on opportunities like satellite terminal deployment, data centres, submarine cable deployment, cybersecurity and more and on the back of these, Airtel would be on the path of becoming a truly digital-first company to serve Digital India.

As per the ET Telecom report on the manner, the exec also said that Bharti Airtel is capable of building world-class solutions thanks to the partnerships it has made with the likes of Apollo Hospitals, IBM, Cisco, Google, Amazon and more.

Mittal Seeking Tariff Raise Support from Govt

Sunil Bharti Mittal also added that such heavy investments in an industry which requires it, coupled with legacy issues and extremely low tariffs, have had their impact on the company. He also did not forget to mention that despite its challenges, India remains a top choice for long term investors. The company head further raised his opinion to match Kumar Mangalam Birla on the matter that the government should intervene to ensure good tariffs for the company. Ending on a positive note, he said that Bharti Airtel is leading in metrics like ARPU and figures like Revenue Market Share (RMS).
