WhatsApp New Updates For Android Beta, Desktop And Web Versions

WhatsApp desktop and web versions are allegedly getting new photo editing tools, which was a feature available only in the mobile app so far. In addition to this, the WhatsApp beta version 2.21.16.10 for Android likely brings new emojis for users. These emojis were announced in April and made their way to the iOS iteration of the app recently.

Photo Editing Tools For WhatsApp Web, Desktop

As per the WhatsApp update tracker WABetaInfo, the new photo editing tools rolled out for WhatsApp Web and Desktop versions are called Drawing Tools. These tools let users edit images before sending them from WhatsApp Web or Desktop app. With this, users can add emojis or text to an image, and rotate or crop it before sharing it with others. The desktop and web versions of the app are likely to get an additional capability of adding stickers to images while editing, which is missing in the mobile app (both Android and iOS).

These editing tools can be seen at the top after choosing an image you wish to share. The option to add text will be at the bottom with the option ‘view once’. As per the report, the feature will be rolled out to all users. It is important to update to the latest version of the app to get this feature. Notably, the ‘view once’ feature lets users send disappearing photos and videos that can be viewed by recipients only once.

New Emojis For Android Users

In another report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp beta version 2.21.16.10 for Android in the Google Play Store gets a slew of new emojis. In order to get the new emojis before others, it is important to sign in to the beta program of WhatsApp.

These emojis were unveiled by Unicode Consortium in July last year and were already rolled out to iOS users. Reportedly, all users with the WhatsApp beta for Android will get this feature. The new emojis include face in clouds, multiple-skin tone couple emojis with heart, face with spiral eyes, couples kissing, and more. In total, there are a whopping 217 new emojis.
