The state-led telecom operator has been working to revive its status in the industry, and the only thing that can substantially help the telecom operator in improving its financial condition is the introduction of 4G services in various circles. The telco has already introduced 4G services and network in states like Kerala, some parts of Karnataka and other regions. However, now the telco has announced its 4G services in another state as well. Today BSNL announced that it is launching its 4G services in Andhra Pradesh as well. This comes as a big move from BSNL as now the subscribers of BSNL in the Andhra Pradesh region will be able to experience high speeds on this 4G network.

350 BSNL 4G Towers Installed in AP Circle

The Chief General Manager of BSNL for AP region, AP Rao, launched the BSNL 4G services today along with other officials in Vijayawada. Rao also expressed delight over BSNL’s current growth, highlighting that the telco has amassed 3.33 lakh new customers this year by July 29. The official also noted that currently, BSNL is facilitating traffic of 122.6TB per day. In the AP circle only, Rao remarked that BSNL would be spending Rs 200 crore for modernisation and expansion of mobile services in the current financial year.

The Chief General Manager also added that in addition to the 350 existing 4G towers in the region, 150 more towers would be set up in the Vijayawada region alone. Rao also remarked that in this year, 17,171 broadband connections had been given to subscribers until July 29. He also said that BSNL has partnered up with Amazon to provide Prime Membership worth Rs 999 to the subscribers on select postpaid plans.

BSNL's Come Back in the Telecom Market With 4G

It is worth noting that BSNL has been financially strapped from the last few months after being bruised by the data tariff war which started as the result of dirt-cheap tariffs introduced by the Mukesh Ambani led telecom operator, Reliance Jio. Now while the other telcos started offering 4G services shortly after Reliance Jio came into the scene, BSNL due to its lack of 4G spectrum in various circles could not migrate its customers to 4G network and as such, the telecom operator was left behind when it came to speeds and service quality and started facing massive losses.

However, as of late, BSNL along with MTNL and with the help of inputs from the government has been working on a revival plan for the company. The telco has also received a green flag for administrative allocation of spectrum for 4G services meaning that now BSNL will be better equipped to launch 4G services in various state and hence offer better speed and services to the customers. The telco is also launching various offers and bundling freebies with its plans to lure more and more subscribers.
