After the consolidation in the Indian telecom sector, the operators are trying hard to lure in more and more subscribers with the help of different ways. As part of this, they are also working to increase the quality, coverage and capacity of their network as well. We have already seen Vodafone Idea deploying new equipment in the Delhi NCR region and other parts of the country with a particular focus in urban areas. Sunil Bharti Mittal led telco is also following behind in this regard and deploying new network infrastructure in many places to increase the coverage and capacity and to provide good services to its subscribers. Last we’d seen that Airtel was using new LTE 900 technology in the North-East and Assam region, now the telecom operator has also deployed this technology in the Delhi-NCR region also.

Deployment of LTE 900 in Delhi NCR Region

Bharti Airtel has today announced it has further upgraded its mobile network in Delhi NCR with the deployment of LTE 900 technology on the 900 Mhz spectrum. This new upgrade of the technology will add to the high-speed network capacity and enhance indoor network experience for Airtel 4G smartphone customers. More importantly, given the high propagation and reach of the 900 Mhz spectrum, Airtel smartphone customers will enjoy improved 4G availability inside buildings - homes, offices and malls. It will also result in wider availability of Airtel 4G across Delhi NCR, which is one of the largest and most dense telecom markets in the country.

About this new deployment, Vani Venkatesh, CEO – Delhi/NCR, Bharti Airtel said, “We are obsessed about delighting our smartphone customers with quality network experience and high-speed data services. As we introduce LTE-900, we will further step up our indoor network coverage. It will enable high-speed connectivity and HD quality VoLTE calling for our customers in Delhi.”

Airtel Deploys LTE 900 Technology in Assam and Other North-East States

The LTE 900 isn’t the only technology that Airtel has deployed in the region. As part of its network upgradation, the telco has also installed pre-5G Massive MIMO and Carrier Aggregation to enhance network capacity over the existing spectrum. The company had recently conducted License Assisted Access (LAA) trial over a LIVE 4G network in Delhi and recorded speeds of 500 Mbps (appx.) over smartphones. It is also worth noting that Airtel has similarly boosted its network in the North-East regions of Assam, Guwahati, Shillong, Itanagar, Imphal, Agartala and more using the LTE 900 technology.

Besides this, Airtel has also deployed the latest network technologies such as Pre-5G, Volte, Massive MIMO and Carrier Aggregation to serve the massive surge in data and voice usage in the regions near Delhi. Additionally, the telco has also announced that it will expand its network in Assam and NE by rolling out 2720 new base stations and 3100 Km of the optic fibre under its network transformation program.
