Redmi 6 Pro Closed Beta Hints Dual VoLTE Feature on Android 9 Pie Based MIUI 10 Update

When for the first time, the 4G network came on to devices, it was a breakthrough for cellular connectivity and high-speed internet. However, when it came to dual-SIM phones, the users had a different problem to face as they were not able to use the data on other SIM while they were on a call on the other. There was no way around the problem for the consumers, and if you were stuck on a call on your other SIM with the data enabled on the second one, then you would be disconnected from the internet unless you had a Wi-Fi connection. To overcome this problem, phone manufacturers came up with Dual VoLTE functionality. While most phones being released these days come with the feature inbuilt, Redmi 6 Pro is one phone in Xiaomi’s line-up which did not come with Dual VoLTE support while it was launched mainly because the phone lands in the budget segment and thus the company had to leave it out.

Redmi 6 Pro Beta Update and Dual VoLTE Feature

However, now it seems that the users of Redmi 6 Pro might be in for a delight as the phone is probably going to receive the Dual VoLTE functionality in a few days. The last time we saw an update for the Redmi 6 Pro was back in January. Soon after, Redmi had launched a new closed Beta version as follow up to the previous version for the device owners in India. After the device was booted with the latest update, Dual VoLTE functionality was found in the settings menu for the secondary SIM card.

It is worth noting that the Redmi 6 Pro will receive the stable update of MIUI 10 in the coming days, and some of the users are expecting the dual VoLTE feature to show up with it, but it is still unclear whether or not Redmi will roll out the feature for its phone. As such, the only thing left to do for the Redmi 6 Pro users to wait and see what the new MIUI 10 Android 9 Pie based update has in store for them.

In 2017 and 2018, Xiaomi launched a plethora of smartphones with Snapdragon 625 SoC. It was initially believed that Snapdragon 625 SoC does not support dual VoLTE feature, however, to everyone' surprise, Xiaomi added the feature to its first Android One handset, the Mi A1. Later on, the same feature was added to last year's Xiaomi Redmi 5 that comes powered by the Snapdragon 450 chipset. Now the time has come for Redmi 6 Pro and Xiaomi might add the same Dual 4G and Dual VoLTE functionality to its other phones with Snapdragon 625 SoC.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro: Specifications and Price

The Redmi 6 Pro was also the device which received a price cut back in January, and its base variant started to retail for Rs 9,999 with the price tag on the higher option being Rs 11,999. The phone also comes with a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.
