Twitter Rolling Out Redesigned Camera Feature to Mobile App Users

Microblogging site Twitter is rolling out the redesign of its camera feature that would now allow users to capture media and overlay location, hashtag or some words on a coloured label. The app would now show media in a larger, more immersive format in the feed with the imagery appearing before the text in tweets, TechCrunch reported on Wednesday. The redesign reflects on the company’s plans on focusing on offering more visual content clicked on the real-time lens.

“Tweet it! Our updated camera is just a swipe away, so you get the shot fast. Rolling out to all of you over the next few days,” the app tweeted.

For now, no stickers, filters, light enhancements or other creative tools have been added on the Twitter Camera app and it remains unclear whether or not would such features would be included on the micro-blogging site’s camera.

“Even though Twitter says it’s not giving Twitter Camera tweets an algorithmic boost in the main timeline, a spokesperson told that its combined ‘Human and Technology Curation’ team might seek to spotlight Twitter Camera tweets in the ‘What’s Happening’ section. We’ll see if media organisations and brands try to take advantage and stand out in the Feeds,” the report added.

Twitter has not specified by when would the redesigned camera feature reach all users globally.
