Xiaomi has finally officially announced its long-time rumoured Redmi Go, company’s first ever Android Go phone. The Chinese smartphone maker has revealed some of the key specs of the Redmi Go, but the price is still unknown. The good thing is the specs of the Redmi Go are exactly the same as the leaked specs sheet revealed last week. Xiaomi has also officially revealed a picture of the Redmi Go, and as far as the overall design is concerned, the Redmi Android Go phone looks like the Redmi 5A.
The official picture shows that the Redmi Go looks like another basic smartphone which isn't surprising news as the phone is designed for basic users. It isn’t designed keeping in mind the current market trend of going all bezel-less. The Redmi Go comes with pretty thick bezels on all side. Xiaomi’s Android Go phone also comes with a single camera setup on the front as well as the back. Sadly there’s no fingerprint sensor and considering it’ll be a very cheap phone there will not be any face unlock support as well.
Xiaomi Redmi Go: Specifications and Features
The Redmi Go comes with a 5-inch HD display with 720p resolution. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has confirmed that on the hardware front the Xiaomi Redmi Go will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad Core processor with up to 1.4GHz. The company hasn’t specified the processor name of the processor but the leaked specs sheet had revealed that the Redmi Go will be powered by the same chipset that runs the Redmi 5A, Snapdragon 425 which Qualcomm has designed for low specs phones or entry level phones.
Xiaomi has officially revealed that the Redmi Go will include one camera on the back while the other one will be on the front panel. On the rear panel the Redmi Go sports an 8MP camera paired with LED flash which sits right next to it. While on the front the Redmi Go includes a 5MP selfie camera for clicking selfies. The Redmi Go comes with a 3000mAh battery which we assume will last easily for one full day on a single charge.
Considering it is an Android Go phone the Redmi Go will run on Google’s Android Go program. As of now, there’s no word whether Xiaomi Redmi Go will come with a stock version of Android Go or the company's MIUI built on Android Go.
