Redmi 5A Gets Android 8.1 Oreo

To recollect, the Redmi 5A was upgraded to MIUI 10 last month itself, but sadly it was based on the same old Android 7.1 Nougat. This disappointed a lot of Redmi 5A users. But as Xiaomi, has been very committed to living up to its consumers expectation, the company does it again with the Redmi 5A. Notably, Xiaomi delivers at least one major Android upgrade to its smartphones. Sadly, Android 8.1 Oreo could be the final major update to the Redmi 5A.

Xiaomi has upgraded the Redmi 5A to Android 8.1 Oreo. This is a part of the global stable update, which means all Redmi 5A users will get the update. If you still haven’t got the update, it could be possible that the software rollout could be happening in a phased manner. So, if you’re a Redmi 5A user and still haven’t got the Android 8.1 Oreo update, you might need to wait for some more time. Also, before downloading and installing the update, you should ensure to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network, back up all your data and fully charge the phone.

Xiaomi Phones Upgraded to MIUI 10

As said, Xiaomi upgraded some of its old phones to MIUI 10 recently. Some of the recent addition to the list are Redmi 5, Redmi 4, Redmi 3S and Redmi 4A. After the MIUI 10 update, all these Redmi phones will be upgraded to the key features of the latest skin by Xiaomi like gesture navigation, new recent menu, Android P like volume slider, PiP mode, autofill support, AI features, improved screen recording and so many other things.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A: Specifications and Features

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 5A in October 2017 in India. The smartphone was better known as the Desh Ka Smartphone.
